MEET THE ATHLETE

My name is Alexia Boyd and I have been running track and field for 7 years starting at the age of 10. I have continued to develop myself through this sport throughout my high school career. As I approach senior year, I have many more goals to reach.

How it Started/ Practice and Training

I wanted to be like my mother and father and pursue track and field to be my sport in school. I didn't think it was possible to even run track at the age of 10, but I saw an interest meeting paper and finally met Coach Parker. He was able to develop my natural talent into something that everyone talked about at every Park and Recreational meet. It has helped me make long-lasting friends to help me whenever needed.

Currently, I practice during the summer with Premier Athletics under Coach Charles Muhammad. During school, I run for Heritage High School in Conyers, Ga. I have enjoyed the many years I have spent running track and I hope that, through the training I am getting, to go further into Track in my profession and career.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

I have had the pleasure of working with many great coaches, including my parents, to get me where I am today. I still do have many goals to reach, but I have also accomplished many things under the leadership of these coaches.

While running Park and Rec, I accomplished the goal of receiving State medals. I have even earned an award for Cobb County Youth Track League's Overall Champion in 2016. I was even able to break three individual records at the same track meet in the same year. For most, that's hard and I was blessed to be able to do so. Every medal may not have been first, but I have always tried to maintain the humble state of mind realizing that you wont win everything. I was grateful to be put through many of the things I went through, because I wouldn't be the same person that I am today. Running track has not only blessed me physically, but mentally as well.

In High School, so far, I have had the ability to fulfill some of my goals set before entering. I was accomplished breaking the record in my favorite event as a sophomore. Also, I have achieved making it to State for 3 years, and its my plan to do so Senior year. Making it to the state level in high school is harder than making it in Park and Rec, but i was even able to manage becoming a medalist at State as well. Because I was consistent and had good times and distances, I was invited to Meet Of Champions for two years.

I am glad that I can say that I have achieved some things, but I always have room for improvement to be exactly who I want to be when I become older. By then, a lot more accomplishments will then be under my belt to share.
